{"id":4290,"date":"2026-08-29T15:35:29","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T15:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/?p=4290"},"modified":"2026-08-29T15:35:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T15:35:29","slug":"twenty-one-years-ago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/29\/twenty-one-years-ago\/","title":{"rendered":"Twenty-One Years Ago!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>G&#8217;morning, and Happy Saturday!<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-one years ago today (28 August 2005), Hazel and I hunkered down under a work table as Hurricane Katrina roared overhead.\u00a0 \u00a0Hazel was a Lab-Chow mix I&#8217;d had only a few months, since her owner had to move back to New York.\u00a0 \u00a0Hazel was a handful, to be sure, but usually she was a good girl.\u00a0 She was evacuated to the home of a Cajun family north of New Orleans, while I finally found a ride to Houston to stay with one of my kids until it was safe to return to New Orleans.\u00a0 I never saw her again, but she was taken in with good people and I&#8217;m sure she lived her life with loads of love.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hazeltoy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4291\" src=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hazeltoy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hazeltoy.jpg 640w, https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/hazeltoy-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A year to the day after Katrina first hit, I moved to Houston permanently and never had a normal paycheck again.<\/p>\n<p>Since this anniversary is on a weekend, I think we should have an anniversary sale for the Last Weekend of the Month.<\/p>\n<p>But first, I&#8217;m interested to know what you do with Phydlbitz Sock yarn.\u00a0 Obviously, I know about socks and shawls and sweaters and baby things, but I&#8217;m wondering what other people do with sock yarns.\u00a0 What sort of crafts beyond knitting and crochet do you do?<\/p>\n<p>Also, where do you hang out online?\u00a0 I spend most of my online time on Facebook and Instagram, but I know there are crafters using all sorts of social media platforms and I&#8217;d love to explore new areas to inspire new dyeing ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the collection of Phydlbitz Sock yarn that I added to the <a href=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/index.php\/blog-reader-specials\/\"><strong>Blog Reader Specials page<\/strong><\/a> this week:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BRS26-21Aug-Done-all.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4288\" src=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BRS26-21Aug-Done-all.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"729\" srcset=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BRS26-21Aug-Done-all.jpg 800w, https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BRS26-21Aug-Done-all-300x273.jpg 300w, https:\/\/knitivity.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BRS26-21Aug-Done-all-768x700.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nNow, through Monday, all the yarns on the <a href=\"https:\/\/knitivity.com\/index.php\/blog-reader-specials\/\"><strong>Blog Reader Specials page<\/strong><\/a> will be invoiced at $21.00 per skein, so it&#8217;s a three-day weekend sale!\u00a0 As they say, order early order often.<\/p>\n<p>As always, to claim any of the available yarns, just <a href=\"mailto:ray@knitivity.com\"><strong>send me an email<\/strong><\/a> and I&#8217;ll get your requests taken care of.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>G&#8217;morning, and Happy Saturday!
