Most weeks I use a variety of dye techniques, but this week I stayed with just two methods.<\/p>\n
On Rack 1, all the yarns were dyed with a sprinkle-spray of one color, followed by a dip bath or ‘wash’.\u00a0 \u00a0Twinset #655-656 is a mix of sky blue and gray with a powder blue wash. On #657-658 I did a heavy sprinkled of both navy and gold, followed with a clear wash.\u00a0 #659-660 is a straight red sprinkle with a powder pink wash; #661-662 is a peacock blue with a powder blue wash; #663-664 is a gold sprinkle and pale yellow wash.\u00a0 Twinset #665-666 is a dual sprinkle of peacock and teal, again with a powder blue wash.<\/p>\n
Rack 2 features a whole rack of solidly-solid dyes which I think came out excellently this time.\u00a0 Sometimes my solids look like kettle dyes, but this week’s collection doesn’t seem to have much variation at all.\u00a0 Part of this is due to how much dye I used, and partly due to how long I saturated the yarn in the dye bath.\u00a0 \u00a0These will, of course, make excellent socks as well as your lace work and other textured knitting.\u00a0 Also, these are the ones you want to combine with multi-color yarns as strong contrast for stranded knitting.<\/p>\n
